Its long blade is very usefull for “stripping”. The 11 cm is the trowel of experienced archaeologists. As a matter of fact, in the course of time, the 11cm trowel  inevitably becomes a 9 cm and if it was not lost  in a spoil heap, ends its career as a 7cm.
